a little about...

Sounds From The Stadium

On Tuesday 5 July 2016 2000+ children came together at St Mary’s Stadium with Cordelectra, CJ Edwards, and Restless Symphony, with help from members of the Bournemouth Symphony Orcestra and Southampton’s Youth Ensembles, and performed music together to raise money for Southampton Hospital Charity. The event was organised by Southampton Music Hub and was a unique opportunity as an inclusive event where any child, regardless of ability or skill level was able to participate.

Sounds from the Stadium Certificate

Thank you very much for organising the fantastic Sounds from the Stadium Event on 5 July, I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and thought it was a huge success.

The money raised from the children’s collection boxes and buckets on the day have raised a staggering £1280 which we are pleased to confirm has been allocated to the Maternity Cardiac Echo Machine fund.

Your fundraising efforts will make a huge difference and we deeply appreciate your support, thank you. Please could you pass on our sincere thanks to all involved in organising the event.

Every year, the hospitals 9,500 staff treat, see and care for around 720,000 patients. Providing these services costs more than £1.6 million a day. Our aim is to enhance these world class services in order to make our patients’ journey as comfortable as possible. We rely on support from our local community and donations from events like yours make a real difference.

Thank you once again for your generous support and for organising such a fantastic event, it is greatly appreciated.

Testimonials from the day

  • Thousands of children joined together in one voice for a spectacular mass concert at St Mary's Stadium in Southampton
  • I could not let yesterday go by without saying how much we enjoyed the afternoon. A great deal of hard work was put into the day and the excellent performances were much enjoyed.
  • It was an exciting and inspiring event to see, and the young people were clearly and wholeheartedly engaged in it!
  • It had all the elements which I’ve imagined a genuine Hub event would have – lots of school involvement, a real mix of performers showcasing what they do and working alongside the children as well, a venue with a difference, coherent and audible presenters, and a buzz of excitement not only at the event itself but also in the build-up via the website, press, and social media.
  • it was a real joy to see such a high quality, truly cross-phase collaboration across so many of our city’s schools. And also a number of our Headteachers on their feet dancing!
  • I could see and hear the kids having a great time performing and joining in with a range of vocal and instrumental pieces, expertly supported by the facilitators and performers. It was lovely to see the fun pieces as well as the serious works played by Southampton Youth Orchestra. CJ and Chordelectra were great role models for the day. Over in the friends and family area it was really relaxing, and great to see such a mix of people listening to the full concert, clapping and singing along too.
  • Just wanted to say a big thank you for organising such a large event - my St Denys Pupils loved it. Many thanks to Steph, Lauren, Fiona and Aidan who have been preparing the students in their instrumental lessons - they enjoyed 'spotting' you in the crowd and were amazed by your voice Fiona. I know to put on such an event it takes a huge amount of effort from you all. Thank you too for making it free to the schools - makes a big difference to a school like St Denys where financial resources are limited.
  • Wow! What a fabulous Stadium event! Thank you so much for organising it- we at Newlands had the time of our lives! It was a great idea having the "Golden Ladies" to entertain everyone when we arrived. Our children were delighted and freaked out by them in equal measure!! CJ was excellent, (much dancing ensued), as were all the other participants. Everything came together, the sound, the compere and THE SINGING! Wonderful! Our parents thoroughly enjoyed themselves too. We all came home on a complete high.
  • I just wanted to send a quick email to say thank you again and congratulations for yesterday's amazing event. I've had such good feedback from colleagues, parents and children! It was superbly organised and most importantly great fun!
  • Yesterday was a huge success, all of the children were really excited about the whole day and were certainly not disappointed. They were all buzzing about the event afterwards. I thoroughly enjoyed the day, and found it very rewarding.
  • Thank you very much for organising the Sounds of the Stadium event. Our children really enjoyed themselves and have commented on what fun they had there. The journey over was no bother and just made it in to an exciting day out! What a day! What an experience for the children! The planning was impeccable; the resources were SO helpful; BSO crew very helpful all day; stadium staff very obliging. Well worth the travel from the IOW - the children loved it. Bravi! Encore!
